I was born out west, in Allegan General Hospital. Well
that’s west of Kalamazoo isn’t it! In high school I participated in football,
wrestling & baseball. As a young man I raced motocross. While employed at the
paper mill in parchment Mi. I completed two state certified apprenticeships, the
first as a millwright & the second as a pipe fitter. Being an avid NASCAR fan
the desire became more than I could stand. Now I am actively building a circle
track race team.
I am married to my beautiful wife Cathy Jo. We have four
children, all boys, Kris, Matt, Derek & Alan Jr. We live right in the middle of
nowhere, that is, we have a Kalamazoo mailing address, a Mattawan telephone
number and are in Paw Paws school district.
At Galesburg Speedway I finished 11th out of
58 in the points standings, seven points out of tenth. After the points season
was over at Galesburg I went to Kalamazoo Speedway and raced the last two points
nights there and finished 26th out of 40; wasn’t bad for my first
year. I look forward to the day I win the points standings. Being in that
winner’s circle is a great feeling, I did get to enjoy that! As great as that
was, I am building strong friendships and I enjoy that just as much. My sponsors
were very pleased to see they had earned national television exposure when I
carefully placed a sign during a Speed Channel live telecast on August 25th
at Bristol Motor Speedway in Bristol, TN. The reaction I received was very cool!
Helping promote my sponsors’ business is just as much a part of racing as
driving the car!
I will be running a new body this year. It will be the
81-88 Monte Carlo with the plastic nose and tail pieces. I expect to be much
more competitive than with the old body.
I’m going to race the entire points season at Kalamazoo
Speedway for the 2007 season. Plus a limited season at M40 Speedway. Check my
schedule for details. I will be posting updates thru out the season.
